Job Tasks and Responsibilities
About the Program
During Yancoal Australia’s two-year Graduate Program, Surveying graduates will embark on a dynamic journey of professional development and hands-on learning.
You'll start with a structured onboarding experience, gaining insight into our values, operations, and strong safety culture. From there, you'll rotate across key areas of the business, gaining exposure to mine surveying, technical services, mine planning, and operations. Through these rotations, you'll develop practical surveying skills while building a strong understanding of how spatial data supports safe and efficient mining throughout the mining lifecycle.
Working alongside experienced surveyors, you’ll contribute to real projects, solve practical challenges, and apply your academic knowledge in real-world settings. You’ll also gain exposure to modern technologies and innovative practices that support continuous improvement across our operations.
Along the way, you’ll be supported through structured training, workshops, and mentorship opportunities designed to accelerate your development.
- Hands-on experience across both open-cut and underground mine sites
- Exposure to a mix of operational and technical rotations
- Mentorship from a senior leader outside of your site to broaden your perspective
- A pathway to a permanent full-time role upon successful completion of the program
Skills and Experience
The successful applicants will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in surveying (or equivalent), with candidates in their final year of study and available to commence full-time work in February 2027
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid computer literacy, with the ability to quickly pick up new systems and tools
- A strong appetite to learn, grow, and build a career in surveying, with curiosity and enthusiasm to develop both technical and practical skills
- Willingness to live in regional locations
