Job Tasks and Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join our planning team.  Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the key responsibilities include:

  • Development of life of mine plans and budget to maximise value for the operation
  • Identify opportunities and optimise production schedules in the mid to long term
  • Prepare and update production re-forecasts using SPRY and other tools
  • Preparation of stage plans and delivery of the mid to long term plans as required
  • Work closely with the Mining department, being proactive in identifying issues, monitoring outcomes and providing solutions
  • Work with other members of the mine planning team to ensure cohesion and alignment between planning horizons to achieve budget objectives

Skills and Experience

About You

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline (Civil, Geology, Survey)
  • Demonstrated 5 years of experience in an open pit mining environment (Coal preferred) with engineering exposure
  • Experience in mine design and scheduling software preferably Vulcan, Spry and Talpac would be advantageous
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel spreadsheets/databases)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The motivation and ability to be curious, learn, listen, contribute to a ‘one team’ work culture, take on challenges and deliver work to the standard and deadlines required.
