Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Moolarben Coal Operations are seeking a highly motivated Technical Services Manager to join the team. As we enter an exciting period of expansion we are embracing new technologies and sustainable practices to meet the growing needs of the operation. We work collaboratively across the organisation and with our stakeholders, constantly striving to enhance the quality of the service we provide.
Reporting to the Open Cut Operations Manager, we are seeking a Technical Services Manager to lead our Technical Services Team, primarily focussed on the open cut mine, and oversee mine planning, mine surveying, geology/geotechnical and associated modelling and planning.
- Leading and mentoring a team of technical professionals to deliver quality, customer focussed outcomes. Specifically leading, task assignment, coaching, developing, mentoring and reviewing the performance of the team
- Provide strategic thinking to the development of life of mine plans to optimise opportunities from 5 to 20 year timeframes
- Supporting the annual budget process for the mine as well as managing own team’s budget
- Aligning mine plans with production targets and adopting them to changing conditions and business demands
- Provide timely and accurate technical services to the mine, whilst assessing and implementing improvement opportunities
- Interpreting relevant legislation to identify impacts on business, ensuring safety regulations and standards compliance, conducting risk assessments and implementing safety protocols
- Work in close cooperation with internal stakeholders to ensure mine success in terms of cost-effective supply of saleable coal
Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria
- A degree in Mining Engineering or Geology or equivalent
- At least 10 years experience in mining technical services, production and supervisory roles with some open cut coal experience
- Experience in short, medium and long term mine planning, safety standards and budgeting process
- Thorough knowledge in NSW Coal Mining legislation and statutory obligations
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team of professionals
- Working knowledge of various mine design and planning software systems
- Qualification for Mining Engineering Manager in NSW desirable but not essential
