Job Tasks and Responsibilities
The Underground Mechanical Tradesman will work closely with the Engineering Department to install, commission, overhaul and maintain mechanical infrastructure and plant and equipment at the mine. The role will work in collaboration with the Mechanical Supervisors, Outbye/Development/Longwall Engineers and Mechanical Engineering Manager. Reporting to the Shift Area Leader (Undermanager), your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct effective maintenance and fault-finding work on Mechanical systems.
- Monitor Mechanical equipment to ensure it remains in a fit for purpose and safe condition.
- Operate machinery as part of a multi-skilled workforce.
Skills and Experience
Our Essential Criteria
- Underground Coal Mining experience or Relevant Heavy Industry plant experience.
- Relevant qualifications - Mechanical Trade Qualification.
- A professional work ethic and the ability to strive for continuous improvement.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Experience with promoting a positive safety culture within the mine.
- Sound planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Post trade hydraulics
- High Risk Work Licences
- AS3584 Explosion Protected Engine systems (DES)
