HEALTH SAFETY & TRAINING ADVISOR

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Training (HST) Advisor, to join our coal mining operation. Reporting to the Open Cut HST Superintendent, you will play a crucial role on maintaining and enhancing our safety culture and training standards, provide technical expertise, advice and coaching in all matters relating to health, safety and training in line with the companies Health and Safety management system, training framework and relevant legislation.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert technical guidance and coaching on health, safety, and training matters aligned with our Health and Safety Management System (HSMS), training framework, and legislative requirementd
  • Lead and coordinate site-wide health, safety, and training assurance activities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance and continuous improvement of the HST Management System
  • Analyze safety data and prepare compregensive reports for management
  • Support the development and implementation of safety initiatives and training programs

Skills and Experience

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and reviewing Safety and Health Management Systems
  • Strong analytical and crticial thinking abilities with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver high-quality technical reports

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or Training
  • Experience in return-to-work coordination
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office application
  • Previous HST experience within heavy industry, particularly mining
  • Understanding of Open Cut Coal Mining Operations and associated safety requirements
