ASSISTANT AUDITOR

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the senior leadership team within the Risk and Audit Function, this position is responsible to perform a range of basic and advanced internal audit activities that support the evaluation of the internal control environment, assess risks impacting business processes across the organisation, and support the functioning of the Risk and Audit function.


This is a casual position for a period of 6 months with potential extension(s) for the right candidate. This role will require candidates to be available 38 hours per week.


This position will:

  • Assist the Risk and Audit function to deliver Yancoal's China-SOX audit.
  • Supports the audit team in the development and execution of internal audit plan by performing assigned tasks.
  • Supports the audit team in the annual internal audit project management activities, and maintains an up-to date calendar and project plan, under guidance from the senior team members.
  • Supports in maintaining and managing the audit actions raised by the audit team and other assurance providers in the audit action tracking system(s), and supports the audit team with status update of these audit actions for reporting to the Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC).
  • Supports in maintaining the risk libraries, controls libraries and the related risk matrices in the risk management system upon the regular refresh of the Enterprise Risk Management practice.
  • Develops, files and maintains internal audit working paper folder, in support of all auditing activities involved in.
  • Supports the senior audit team members with any ad-hoc audit tasks, that may be assigned.
  • Supports the senior audit team members with translation of reports from English to Mandarin.

Skills and Experience

Essential Skills:

  • Experience:  One year previous experience in an audit environment or applying auditing skills.
  • Qualification:  Graduate in either a business, accounting, ICT or similar discipline.
  • Skills:  Active listening, Ability to apply common-sense and logic, Critical and Analytical thinking, Attention to detail, Time management.
  • Translation:  Ability to independently translate content into Mandarin with high accuracy.

Desirable Skills:

  • Qualification:  Accounting certification such as CPA, CA, CIA, CISA or similar.
  • Tools:  Ability / experience working on data analytics tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, MS Excel / Access.  Experience working in SAP or other ERP environments.
  • Additional merits:  To be given to candidates with previous ICT audit experience.
