Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Stratford Coal are seeking a Mining Supervisor (Open Cut Examiner) for a 6-month period (fixed-term contract) supporting mine closure. Reporting into the Mining Superintendent, this position will be responsible for ensuring safe operations on a shiftly basis, as well as managing compliance to relevant legislation. 

 

While based out of the Stratford Duralie Mine, this position will manage a contractor workforce carrying out rehabilitation activities at the Duralie site (approximately 20 minutes East of Gloucester). Supported by the broader Stratford Duralie Team, this role will work a Monday to Friday roster pattern, rotating across Dayshift and Afternoon shift (42 hours/week).

Skills and Experience

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:

 

  • A current Practicing Certificate as an Open Cut Examiner and a Certificate of Competency as an Open Cut Examiner;
  • Australian Drivers Licence (Manual);
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of NSW Work Health and Safety legislation and the current NSW Work Health and Safety (mines and petroleum sites) legislation;
  • Proven experience leading an open cut production team in a Mining Supervisory role;
  • A strong commitment to safety and the environment;
  • Demonstrated high level skills in risk management and hazard identification;
  • High level of communication and stakeholder engagement;
  • Capable to lead emergency response across a wide variety of scenarios in open cut mining;
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and adapt to challenges within a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in managing a contractor workforce would be highly regarded.
