About the role

At Yarrabee, we’re building a high-performing, values-led culture and we’re looking for a Senior HR Advisor who thrives in a hands-on environment, supports leaders at every level and can confidently navigate complex people challenges. This is your opportunity to step in as a true 2IC to the HR Manager, playing a key role in supporting leaders and leading critical employee relations outcomes across site.
Reporting to the HR Manager, you will be a trusted advisor to leaders and a key contributor to site culture and performance. You’ll operate at both a strategic and operational level, partnering with leaders to uplift capability while also stepping into more complex and sensitive matters when required. This is an 18-month fixed term role and you’ll work on site at Yarrabee mine on a 7:00am – 4:00pm roster, with flexibility to meet the needs of the business and your own. You’ll engage directly with crews, building strong relationships and gain a deep understanding of how the operation runs.
What you’ll be doing
- Partnering closely with leaders to provide practical, solutions-focused HR advice
- Acting as a 2IC to the HR Manager, supporting day-to-day leadership and site priorities
- Leading and managing complex employee relations and industrial relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary processes, disputes, and escalations
- Coaching leaders through challenging people scenarios with confidence and clarity
- Supporting the full employee lifecycle – onboarding, development, and offboarding
- Driving engagement, culture, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Using data and insights to inform workforce decisions and identify trends
- Ensuring consistent, compliant application of policies and site processes
- Coaching and developing the HR Officer, building capability and strengthening the effectiveness of the HR function on site
- Driving improvements in HR systems, processes, and ways of working to enhance efficiency and consistency
What we're looking for
You’re someone who:
- Has strong ER/IR experience, with the confidence to manage complex and sensitive cases end-to-end
- Brings sound knowledge of employment legislation and industrial frameworks
- Builds credibility quickly and can influence at all levels of the business
- Is calm under pressure and comfortable dealing with ambiguity and competing priorities
- Has the ability lead HR projects and support the delivery of people plan
- Takes ownership, shows initiative and follows through on outcomes
- Is practical, approachable and outcome-focused
Experience in mining or heavy industry will be highly regarded.
