Shotfirer

We are seeking a qualified Shotfirer with extensive hands-on experience to join the blast crew at Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW).

Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Blast Supervisor you will be responsible for the safe and productive conduct of blasting operations on your crew. 
 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in open pit blasting operations and have the ability to meet the safe and productive standards expected by Yancoal. The successful candidates will be working a 2-panel dayshift only roster and will be part of a successful team that enjoys what they do and values each other's contributions.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in the role you must display the following skills and attributes:

•    A current NSW Security Clearance;
•    A current NSW Blasting Explosives Users Licence;
•    Experience in blasting operations using electronic initiation systems in an open pit coal mine environment; 
•    A proven track record with regard safe and productive operating practices;
•    Ability to meet the requirements of this role with regard to working outside; 
•    A positive and proactive attitude;
•    A current NSW Manual Driver’s licence.
