SENIOR HR BUSINESS PARTNER

We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.

Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.

 

 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

As a generalist HR professional, you will bring extensive experience in case management/IR exposure coupled with an ability to build strong rapport with all levels of the business. This will set you up for success when delivering culture-based initiatives across the operation that are aligned to and promote our core values and code of conduct. With no two days the same, this role will also require you to:
•    Partner with Operational leaders to deliver optimal people outcomes for our business;
•    Coach and mentor HR Team members to build team capability. 
•    Influence and drive cultural change initiatives across the operation.
•    Manage, negotiate and influence positive IR outcomes.
•    Lead and manage workplace investigations. 

 

This position will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a 6-month period, with the possibility of extension.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidates will foster a ‘One Team’ culture, while promoting the Yancoal Values of People, Safety, Innovation, Integrity and Excellence. To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:

•    Relevant degree in Human Resource / Business/ Law and/or related experience.
•    Minimum 5 years’ HR generalist experience, preferably within Mining and/or Heavy industry.
•    Extensive IR exposure coupled with strong case management experience.
•    Ability to work collaboratively and proactively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
•    Ability to work strategically as well as deliver on day-to-day tasks in a demanding environment.
•    Advanced computer literacy – Microsoft office suite and HRIS systems.
