We are currently seeking a highly motivated Mining Supervisor to join the MTW Mining team.

Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dragline, Drill & Blast Superintendent, you will be responsible for proactively managing safe production outcomes throughout the shift. Supervising a team of Mining Operators (Shotfirer), you will be required to lead your team to drive performance, excellence, and safe production. As the ideal candidate, you will have extensive experience in open cut mining as well as leading large production teams.

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes: 

•    Previous experience leading an open cut mining team as a Mining Supervisor.
•    Previous experience in drill and blast disciplines.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to resolve issues effectively.
•    A can-do attitude that fosters teamwork using problem solving skills that includes team member participation.
•    Demonstrated skills in risk management, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety performance.
•    Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with other stakeholders in the business.
•    Results focused with the ability to have a positive impact on culture. 
•    Computer literacy – able to use MS Office suite programs such as Excel, Word and PDF.
•    Hold a current OCE Statutory ticket or the ability and commitment to gain this qualification.
•    Must hold a current SafeWork NSW Security Clearance.
•    Hold a current SafeWork NSW Blasting Explosives Users Licence (highly regarded).
