HR ADVISOR
Reporting to the HR Superintendent, we are seeking a Human Resources Advisor with extensive IR experience and strong case management to join our highly energetic and motivated HR Team. You will provide a high level of stakeholder engagement to our operational leaders, while also supporting continuous improvement projects.

We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.
Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
If you are someone who loves working on people focused initiatives, both operational and strategic, this role is for you. As a generalist HR professional, you will have the opportunity to drive a diverse range of HR initiatives. With no two days the same, this role will also require you to:
• Provide coaching and mentoring to frontline leaders to build strength in our leadership capability;
• Complete end-to-end recruitment activities;
• Negotiate and influence positive IR outcomes; and
• Have the ability to challenge the norm and lead by example.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidates will display the Yancoal ‘Our Way’ behaviours and Values in everyday practice and foster a ‘One Team’ culture. To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
• Relevant degree in Human Resource/ Business and/or experience in Human Resources;
• Minimum 5 years’ HR generalist experience, preferably within Mining and/or Heavy industry
• Extensive exposure to IR coupled with strong case management experience;
• Ability to work collaboratively and proactively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive people focused results;
• Ability to focus on the big picture and achieve goals whilst still prioritising the day to day tasks; and
• Advanced computer literacy – Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
