We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.
Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the HR Superintendent and working a Monday – Friday roster, the HR Advisor – Data Support will be responsible for:
• Reviewing and analysing data on a regular basis to identify trends, or areas of concern.
• Generate weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports related to key HR metrics for various stakeholders.
• Work closely with HR and operational teams to provide accurate and actionable insights.
• Create clear, concise, and visually appealing presentations (e.g. PowerPoint) to communicate key findings and recommendations to leaders.
This position will be offered for a 6-month fixed-term, with the possibility of extension.
Skills and Experience

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
• Relevant degree or work experience in Human Resource/ Business and/or Administration;
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies in data;
• Strong computer skills across the MS Office suite including excel;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels;
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
• Enthusiasm to learn new skills and to help the Company succeed;
• Previous exposure and experience working in Heavy Industry / Mining is desirable however, not essential;
• Experience with HR systems is an advantage (SAP, SuccessFactors).
