Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Emergency Services Advisor (ESA) to join our team at Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW). As an Emergency Services Advisor, you will be accountable for providing emergency response support to our site whilst working Monday – Friday day shift. In particular, you will also be responsible for:

 

  • Monitoring and responding to emergency calls and leading the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Provision of first aid medical services to maintain the health of employees/contractors in the event of an incident and protect against further injury and/or loss.
  • Verify incident information, complete reporting requirements and report to relevant site personnel to enable follow up and future prevention.
  • Manage, inspect and maintain emergency equipment (e.g. first aid kits, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, etc.).
  • Participate in the management of emergency response facilities, vehicles and equipment, ensuring they are kept to regulation standard.
  • Conduct ERT, First Aid and Fire Fighting Training to site staff and the community.
  • Conduct on-site drug and alcohol testing.
  • As a valued member of the Health, Safety and Training (HST) team, you will assist the team and operation through proactive safety interactions, auditing high-risk work and delivering other site training material.
  • Maintain and foster a working environment which promotes safety in all that we do, whilst also providing outstanding services.

To succeed in this role, you will also display the following skills and attributes:

 

  • Attained HLTPAT005 - Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
  • Medium Rigid vehicle licence (MR).
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Certificate II in Security or higher (desirable).
  • Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue or Public Safety equivalent (desirable).
