Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

 

MTW’s CHPP is currently seeking a Mechanical Maintainers (North) to join the team on a fulltime basis. Reporting to the CHPP Mechanical Supervisor, your primary responsibilities will be to perform inspections and carry out maintenance duties in the Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP). The role will require you to:

 

  • Conduct routine and breakdown maintenance activities,
  • Complete allocated preventative maintenance tasks and inspections as assigned,
  • Provide a timely response to maintenance issues to ensure targets are met,
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives including production and safety improvements,
  • Step-up into supervisor and/or planner roles.

Skills and Experience

 

To succeed in the role the following skills and attributes;

 

  • Formal Mechanical (Fitter/Boilermaker) trade qualification;
  • Proven CHPP or other heavy industry experience;
  • Ability to communicate effectively by sharing knowledge with others and helping the team;
  • Pro-active approach to problem solving with the ability to work well under pressure;
  • Industry relevant qualifications (High Risk licenses);
  • Sound computer literacy, preferably with an understanding of SAP systems;
  • Experience supervising and/or planning.

 

Along with strong technical knowledge you will also possess strong work ethic, excellent communication, proven commitment to safety, ability to work in a dynamic team and a ‘can do’ approach to work challenges. You must have a commitment to continuous improvement, working safely and meeting environmental standards.
