Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Yancoal MTW is seeking an experienced, motivated and results driven Maintenance Planner to join the CHPP team on a permanent full time basis. Reporting directly to the CHPP Maintenance Delivery Superintendent, you will be responsible for preparation and planning of maintenance activities for Coal Handing Preparation Plant. The role will require you to: 

 

  • Develop and maintain short and long term maintenance forecasts;
  • Maintain effective use of preventative maintenance strategies;
  • Plan labour, materials, external services and equipment for maintenance tasks;
  • Liaise effectively with the scheduling and execution teams to ensure the plan is delivered in a timely manner;
  • Control costs through effective planning of available resources;
  • Provide supervision support during maintenance shutdowns and breakdowns;
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives.

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:

 

  • Mechanical trade or relevant Engineering qualifications;
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar planning role;
  • Drive and focus on continuous improvement;
  • High level of attention to detail; 
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritise in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain relationships across a variety of stakeholders;
  • Strong computer literacy coupled with experience in the use of SAP.
