We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.
Located 14km northwest of Singleton, Ashton underground mine has been operational for nearly 20 years. The mine produces semi-soft coking coal for export through the Port of Newcastle, for use in the steel manufacturing industry and thermal coal for power generation. Ashton employs approximately 330 people across our surface and underground operations.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Health, Safety & Training Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for developing, implementing, reviewing & overseeing safety and operational training for the Underground, Coal Handling Preparation Plant and Surface Operations.
- Maintain and manage the Learning Management System (Pegasus) and training requirements of all employees
- Maintain the Maintenance of Competency for all statutory roles on site
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure that training systems reflect current work practices, procedures, and processes
- Complete training needs analysis for all job roles and maintain operations training matrix to ensure employees receive appropriate training in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Develop and maintain the annual training day plans for site
- Coordinate & deliver training in consultation with key stakeholders
- Develop onboarding plan and packages for new starters
- Partner with key stakeholders to design and deliver tailored training programs
- Conduct safety & operational training assessments and provide feedback to operators on competency performance
- Maintain accurate records of training attendance, completion, and certification to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and adjust as required
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this role, you will possess the following:
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (essential)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Previous experience operating underground equipment (essential)
- Sound knowledge of Pegasus portal and understanding of Contractor Management principles
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office primarily Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- High level attention to detail and data entry accuracy
- Exceptional relationship building skills with ability to influence stakeholders
