As the Field Systems (Hardware) Technician, you are responsible for delivering high-quality Operational Technology outcomes across the mining fleet and associated communications infrastructure.

Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor - Field Systems, you will be part of a collaborative and engaged team that values safety, performance, and continuous improvement.
This role requires strong engagement with both operations and maintenance to ensure the reliability and availability of Operational Technology systems. Whilst the role is predominantly hands-on, the successful candidate will be required to remotely diagnose equipment using a range of specialised software applications whilst working the rotating 4/5 lifestyle roster, 42 hours Monday to Sunday.
The role will also require you to:
• Setup, maintain and develop operational technologies such as LTE, Modular, CAT Mine Star, CCTV, Digital Radio, Network Access Point Servers, TCP/IP Networking, PTP and PMP Microwave Radio Links and associated communications infrastructure.
• Support continuous improvement and project initiatives delivered by the Field Systems team.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Operational Technology Systems and processes including guidelines, procedures, templates and tools.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Skills and Experience

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
• A tertiary qualification in Electronics or a related discipline.
• Experience in a similar field-based hardware role, ideally within large-scale mining operations.
• Exposure to Operational Technology systems and/or telecommunications environments.
• Experience working with LTE and Wi-Fi communication networks.
• Experience with fibre optic systems (desirable).
• Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PDF).
• Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective workplace relationships.
• The ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a large team.
• A proven commitment to safe work practices and high-quality outcomes.
