Maintenance Supervisor – Electrical Infrastructure

Yancoal MTW is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor with strong front-line leadership experience to join our Electrical Infrastructure Maintenance team on a full-time basis.

Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.

 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient execution of maintenance activities whilst working Monday to Friday.

 

In this role, you will also be responsible for:

  • Executing maintenance activities across critical infrastructure assets, ensuring safety, quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery;
  • Leading, mentoring, and effectively supervising a maintenance crew to achieve operational outcomes;
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating day-to-day work activities, including assigning clear and achievable tasks to team members;
  • Ensuring team engagement through a clear understanding of role accountabilities and performance expectations, supported by regular feedback and coaching;
  • Actively contributing to the continuous improvement initiatives and the optimisation of site systems and assets;
  • Assisting with electrical trouble shooting and fault-finding as required.

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:

  • Relevant trade qualifications (Electrical), with demonstrated Supervisory experience within mining maintenance;
  • Proven experience coordinating infrastructure maintenance activities across a range of equipment including but not limited to, high voltage switchyards and substations, generators, lighting plants, pumps, fuel systems, buildings, welders etc;
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a proven ability to positively influence team culture and performance;
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing operational demands;
  • Well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective engagement with crews and key stakeholders;
  • A hands-on, solution focused approach to problem solving and fault resolution;
  • Demonstrated capability in driving operational excellence, safety compliance and continuous improvement outcomes;
  • Proficient in the use of computer systems including SAP and Microsoft office suite.
