Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Based at Moolarben Coal Operations and reporting to the HR Manager, this role is responsible for leading site-based HR operations. Working closely with the site leadership team, you will play a key role in enhancing operational effectiveness and fostering a high-performance culture aligned with organisational values.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to two direct reports, fostering capability, accountability, and professional growth
  • Lead and promote a positive workplace culture, developing and implementing initiatives that align with Yancoal values and behavioural expectations
  • Provide high-quality strategic and operational advice on conditions of employment, industrial relations, and employee relations matters
  • Partner with the broader HR team to ensure consistent application of HR frameworks, policies, and practices across sites
  • Support and advise line leaders on performance management, disciplinary processes, and grievance resolution in line with legislative and organisational requirements
  • Deliver pragmatic HR coaching and guidance to leaders and employees, including interpretation of policies, procedures, and employment framework
  • Lead and contribute to HR initiatives focused on workforce retention, engagement, and capability development at site level

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in Human Resources, ideally within mining, resources, or a heavy industrial environment
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage a complex workload, competing priorities, and operational deadlines in a site-based environment
