Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, this is a permanent full-time position working a dayshift only lifestyle roster (5 on, 5 off, 4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off). This will include providing geological input into site operations, identifying geological uncertainties and resource risks and providing technical support. Moolarben will provide all the appropriate training for this role on site and there is opportunity to develop exploration and modelling skills in a supportive environment.

 

As a Mine Geologist you will be required to:

 

  • Provide geology support and information through daily pit inspections and communication with production personnel
  • Production tracking and capture of accurate coal mining data to support the coal reconciliation process
  • Promote focus on best practice coal mining, horizon control and coal recovery
  • Complete geotechnical inspections and communicate geotechnical hazard controls with production personnel
  • Update short term mining structure models and surfaces for mine planning
  • Assist with exploration and contractor management

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology
  • Experience working in an Open Cut Coal mining environment
  • Hold a current drivers licence
  • Preferred experience in Vulcan or similar modelling software
  • Ability to manage multiple scopes of work
  • Ability to promote a strong safety culture
  • Ability to communicate Geological information to various departments including Technical Services & Production Teams
