Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Yancoal’s Stratford Duralie Operation is looking for enthusiastic Environment and Community Advisor to join the team on a 10-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Superintendent Environment and Community, the responsibility of this role is to provide environmental advice to the operation ensuring legislative compliance along with building and maintaining strong relationships within the local community. On a daily basis, you will employ your interpersonal skills when liaising with internal and external stakeholders and co-ordinate environmental monitoring, prepare internal and external reports, undertake inspections and participate in audits.  

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Coordinating environmental assistance and providing accurate advice on Stratford Coal regarding environmental requirements; 
  • Investigating and assisting with complaint and incident management;
  • Providing assistance with the preparation of accurate environmental performance reports;
  • Anticipating, identifying and recording any actual or potential environmental concerns and coordinating the provision of solutions to these concerns;
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of Stratford Coal Environmental Management System;
  • Assist with the management and implementation of environmental and closure projects;
  • Developing and maintaining environmental awareness training for employees and contractors.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental management/science or, a related discipline;
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a similar position;
  • Basic knowledge of the NSW environmental regulatory framework;
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Competent computer literacy;
  • High level of integrity with the desire to innovate practical solutions;
  • Experience within an Open Cut Coal mining operation is desirable;
  • GIS experience is desirable.
