CHPP SUPERINTENDENT PRODUCTION
Yancoal Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is seeking an experienced and motivated Superintendent to join the CHPP Production team on a permanent full-time basis.

Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the CHPP Manager, this role is responsible for providing strong daily leadership and direction to the CHPP Production team and broader MTW operation. The Superintendent will ensure the effective management and delivery of key production activities aligned with the site Plan on a Page. This position plays a critical role in fostering a positive safety culture, driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring the CHPP achieves production, quality and business targets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership, coaching and support to CHPP Production crews and frontline leaders
- Driving a strong safety culture through visible leadership and meaningful field interactions
- Supporting the safe and efficient operation of coal handling facilities, water storage and tailings management systems
- Ensuring production, recovery, quality, availability and cost targets are consistently achieved
- Monitor and manage operational KPI’s, identifying and implementing improvement opportunities
- Coordinating daily, weekly and monthly production activities and forecasts
- Leading and supporting operational and cultural improvement initiatives
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships across Production, Maintenance, Technical Services, Logistics and Safety teams
- Leading incident investigations, risk assessments and compliance activities
Skills and Experience

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
- Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines, or relevant tertiary qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a CHPP or heavy industrial processing environment
- Strong working knowledge of coal handling and preparation plant operations
- Proven ability to lead, engage, and develop teams while driving a positive culture and performance outcomes
- Sound understanding of safety, environmental, and operational compliance requirements
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Highly motivated, with the ability to collaborative effectively across multiple departments
- Experience with budgeting, cost management and operational planning will be highly regarded
