We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.

Located 14km northwest of Singleton, Ashton underground mine has been operational for nearly 20 years. The mine produces semi-soft coking coal for export through the Port of Newcastle, for use in the steel manufacturing industry and thermal coal for power generation. Ashton employs approximately 330 people across our surface and underground operations. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced CHPP Manager to join our team at Ashton Coal Operation. Reporting to the Operations Manager and being a key member of the site Senior Leadership Team, the CHPP Manager will have high standards of safety and compliance with a passion for continuously improving our operation.

 

Some key tasks and responsibilities will include:

 

  • Be the driver of safety, lead from the front and ensure the CHPP team is utilising our safety management systems.
  • Lead, maintain and ensure statutory compliance across the CHPP.
  • Provide leadership, support and accountability to the CHPP team.
  • Monitor and maintain costs and budgets for the CHPP.
  • Improve the availability, production rates and cost structure of the CHPP using available resources and strategies to allow assets to be effectively managed.
  • Being the responsible person for Ashton private rail siding and the Dam Safety Nominated responsible person for Ashton’s Tailings Storage Facility.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role, you will be possess the following:

 

  • NSW statutory practicing certificate or equivalent (desirable).
  • Sound knowledge of NSW workplace and Mining statutory rules and regulations.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the same or similar position.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and empowerment of teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to risk management, safe work practices and statutory obligations.
  • Experience in Project Management.
