Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Yancoal MTW is seeking an experienced, motivated and results driven Maintenance Planner to join the CHPP team on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting directly to the CHPP Maintenance Delivery Superintendent, you will be responsible for preparation and planning of maintenance activities for Coal Handing Preparation Plant. The role will require you to:

 

  • Develop and maintain short and long term maintenance forecasts;
  • Maintain effective use of preventative maintenance strategies;
  • Plan labour, materials, external services and equipment for maintenance tasks;
  • Liaise effectively with key contractors to ensure the work is scheduled correctly to allow safely and effective execution of tasks;
  • Liaise effectively with the planning and execution teams to ensure the plan is delivered in a timely manner;
  • Control costs through effective planning/scheduling of available resources;
  • Drive performance through chairing weekly meetings;
  • Provide supervision support during maintenance shutdowns and breakdowns;
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives.

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:

 

  • Relevant trade / diploma qualifications with a mechanical or electrical focus;
  • Demonstrated high level planning/scheduling experience in a similar role within a Coal Handing Preparation Plant / open cut coal mine or heavy industry environment;
  • Drive and focus on continuous improvement;
  • High level of attention to detail;
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritise in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain relationships across a variety of stakeholders;
  • Strong computer literacy coupled with experience in the use of SAP and MS Excel.
