What does your daily life look like at Yancoal?

As the Manager Sustainability, you will provide strategic and technical advice as well as technical and coordination support to develop, oversee implementation and manage the Yancoal Sustainability Strategy and Implementation Plan to achieve Group business and risk mitigation objectives.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Provide effective guidance, mentoring and direction to the business (both corporate and site based functional areas) with regards to delivering and achieving the Yancoal sustainability departmental functional objectives.
  • Develop / review, implement and maintain the Yancoal Sustainability Strategy such that it is current and relevant to Yancoal’ s strategic objectives, vision, mission and values.
  • Develop / review, implement and maintain a groupwide Climate Action Plan and Decarbonisation Roadmap.
  • Maintain and monitor compliance with all relevant authority and legislative requirements related to sustainability.
  • Engage with industry bodies and associations to represent Yancoal’ s sustainability interests.
  • Oversee the development, facilitation and implementation of systems and reporting for mandatory and compliance-based reporting.

What do you need to be successful in the role?

To be successful in the role you will require the following skills:

Qualifications:

  • A technical engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Additional qualifications desirable (ESG/sustainability, finance/business, or community relations).

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong planning, organising and coordination skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with external and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • High level of computer literacy including – Microsoft office suite of programs
  • Business and project management skills including senior management team membership.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Clear, open and effective communication tailored to the audience.
  • Ability to lead and develop effective cross functional teams and implement strategy.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years’ industry experience
  • Demonstrated industry qualifications and / or industry body experience
  • Industry environmental and stakeholder management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Australian sustainability legislation
  • Strong understanding of sustainability and climate related disclosure requirements
  • Practical application of ESG / Sustainability policy and practice, awareness, analysis and assessment.
  • An understanding of mine closure, rehabilitation and post-mining land use applications.
