What does your daily life look like at Yancoal?

As the Category Manager is responsible for leading, developing and driving Category Strategies across the Yancoal Group that deliver the Procurement Plan (including sourcing & contract management) and supports operational and business opportunities and risk mitigations

Your responsibilities include:

  • Role model the process and stakeholder engagement by also performing and taking accountability for high complexity, high value and high risk categories.
  • Ongoing leadership and development of the Category Strategy.
  • Ensure Category Strategy initiatives and procurement led business improvement initiatives are executed
  • Provide strategic direction and advice to the site based Technical/Commercial/Supply staff regarding capital and operating acquisitions.
  • Provide strategic advice on budget cost estimates of plant equipment.
  • Establish, implement and review service contract templates, procedures and procedures across the Yancoal Group.
  • Lead commercial and contract negotiations for high dollar value, high risk and group strategic contracts as required.
  • Establish service level of agreement with contractors/suppliers that meet Yancoal standards and requirements.
  • Ensure an effective working relationship is maintained with key stakeholders and that goals and expectations are clearly communicated.
  • Review and monitor contracts and service provided to ensure Yancoal’s interests are protected.

What do you need to be successful in the role?

 

To be successful in the role you will require the following skills:

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary degree in engineering, business or commerce.
  • Contract management or procurement qualification desirable

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proven team leadership experience and development of professional individuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional maturity to build and maintain effective relationships
  • Highly developed negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills with significant evidence of savings and value delivery
  • Sound analytical skills for strategies and negotiation
  • Demonstrated superior verbal and written communication to enable effective communication at all levels of the organisation
  • Systematic approach to strategy development
  • Understand internal Demand analysis and correlate to external Supply market opportunities
  • High level planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to influence and engage, through both written and verbal communication, with a wide diversity of audiences
  • Knowledge of all relevant legislative requirements.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years managing major contracts and procurement leadership
  • Experience in the mining industry
