Underground Human Resources Superintendent

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Based on site at Moolarben Coal Operations and reporting to the HR Manager, you will lead the HR Function at our Underground Operations. Working closely with the management team you will play an integral role in improving the effectiveness of site operations and build a high-performance culture.


Key responsibilities:

  • Understand the prevailing workplace culture and develop and implement strategies to ensure the UG culture is aligned to Yancoal Values.
  • Provide advice and strategic guidance on conditions of employment and industrial relations.
  • Working with the HR team to ensure consistency across sites
  • Provide advice to line managers in performance management, disciplinary procedures, and grievance resolution.
  • Providing HR coaching, advice, policy and procedure interpretation to managers and employees.
  • Coaching site-based employees and managers though the annual performance review process.
  • HR data management of reporting, surveys, salary review data.
  • Lead and support HR retention and workforce engagement projects.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in Human Resources– mining or industrial experience preferred
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate and influence leaders.
  • Well organised and confident in handling a substantial workload and competing priorities
