We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment, owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. Managed by Yancoal, Cameby Downs is a small open cut thermal coal mine in the Surat Basin in southern Queensland, between Chinchilla and Miles. We employ approximately 230 people and aim to support our local communities.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

 

Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, you will be part of a dynamic and motivated team.  The role will require you to:

•    Have a thorough understanding of the QLD Coal Mining Legislation and how they pertain to individual and supervisor obligations.

•    Demonstrate understanding of associated plant and machinery within the mining environment and how to apply "best" fit for the same.

•    Experienced in leading personnel in a mining environment, including prioritising tasks and allocation of same to crew members

•    Well-developed operating skills on a wide range of earthmoving equipment

Skills and Experience

  • QLD OCE Certificate (Open Cut Examiner Certificate)
  • S1, S2, S3 & G2 (mandatory)
  • Current Open Class Drivers Licence (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated high level of communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated skills in risk awareness, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety performance
  • Able to manage, coach and lead operators and establish an effective team
  • Able to demonstrate courage to uphold standards, policies and procedures
  • Basic computer literacy - ability to use MS office suite
  • Standard 11 Mine Induction - surface
  • Senior First Aid Certificate or higher
