We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating, or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland, and Western Australia.
Managed by Yancoal, Cameby Downs is an open cut thermal coal mine in the Surat Basin in Southern Queensland, between Chinchilla and Miles. Being only 3.5hrs drive to Brisbane it is an ideal option for either residential or DIDO. People development is an integral component of the way we work at Yancoal, and this role presents an opportunity to utilize, learn and improve your skills in the design and scheduling of Drill and Blast, Dozer Push, and Truck/Excavator.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
As a key member of the Mine Planning team, you will be responsible for the design, scheduling and planning of the Cameby Downs Operations, as well as the continuous improvement and cost mitigation of the mine.
- Promote and maintain compliance with the Cameby Downs Safety & Health Management System and associated legislative requirements
- Promote and maintain compliance with the Cameby Downs Environmental Management System and Environmental Approvals
- Provide technical guidance for all Digger/Dozer/Dump activities in consultation with the Mining Superintendent and OCE/Supervisor
- Provide technical guidance for all drill and blast activities, in consultation with the Mining Superintendent and OCE/Supervisor
- Maintain the short-term planning production schedule including drilling, blasting, dozer, excavator, and coal mining sequencing
- Develop and evaluate mine design for mining functions
- Ensure that mining activities are carried out according to design
- Formulate production forecasts and budgets as required
- Provide the Senior Mining Engineer with regular updates and critical information to ensure transparency of operational performance
Skills and Experience
To be successful in the role, you will display the following skills and attributes:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline
- Experience in the provision of engineering applications within an Open cut mining environment
- Experience in mine design and scheduling software
- Sound understanding of individual responsibilities in relation to the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problems-solving skills
- Current Australian Open Driver's Licence
