Job Tasks and Responsibilities
We’re looking for a strategic and experienced Commercial Superintendent to lead our commercial and stores functions onsite. You’ll be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, contract and procurement oversight, and ensuring compliance with financial, statutory, and safety regulations. As part of the Leadership Team, this is a Section 55 appointed role under the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999, meaning you’ll play a key part in shaping the success, compliance and future of our operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial and commercial functions across budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Oversee procurement and warehouse operations with a focus on safety, efficiency and value
- Negotiate and manage contracts for site operations (e.g. transport, delivery, accommodation)
- Drive continuous improvement and foster a high-performing, inclusive commercial team
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and ensure alignment with Yancoal’s reporting framework
- Promote safety, compliance and accountability across all commercial practices
Skills and Experience
Qualifications & Certifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- CPA or CA qualified
- Relevant risk and safety training (e.g. Standard 11, RIIRIS301A)
Experience & Skills

- 8+ years post-grad experience in commercial or mining environments
- Strong financial leadership: budgets, reporting, compliance, and forecasting
- Proven contract and procurement expertise
- Confident with ERP systems and reporting frameworks
- Leadership that inspires, includes, and elevates others
- Analytical, decisive and systems-savvy with a continuous improvement mindset
