We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. Located 14km northwest of Singleton, Ashton underground mine has been operational for nearly 20 years. The mine produces semi-soft coking coal for export through the Port of Newcastle, for use in the steel manufacturing industry and thermal coal for power generation. Ashton employs approximately 330 people across our surface and underground operations.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Shift Engineer to join our team at Ashton, working weekend nightshift roster.
Reporting to the shift Undermanager and indirectly to the Engineering Manager, the successful applicant will be committed to the proactive maintenance of our machinery with a proven safety focus.
The successful applicant will be an experienced supervisor with extensive experience on CAT Longwall Equipment, Joy Development Machinery, JUG diesels and ACE conveyor belt systems. Being a motivated leader with a commitment to safety will be essential for this position.
Skills and Experience
To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Electrical or Mechanical Trade qualification (essential)
- Frontline Leadership qualifications (highly desirable)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Shift Engineer or similar role (essential)
- SAP experience (desirable)
- Highly developed communication skills and ability to influence & negotiate effectively with stakeholders
- Superior problem solving skills and decision making skills
- Sound knowledge in Coal Mining Work Health & Safety legislation
