We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. Located 14km northwest of Singleton, Ashton underground mine has been operational for nearly 20 years. The mine produces semi-soft coking coal for export through the Port of Newcastle, for use in the steel manufacturing industry and thermal coal for power generation. Ashton employs approximately 330 people across our surface and underground operations.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Mining Supervisor, this role will be responsible for operating and maintaining underground equipment to meet production targets in accordance with mine standards.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Utilise underground experience and skillset to work across Outbye, Development and/or Longwall districts as required
- Proactively contribute to the safety of the team and mine by identifying risks and hazards
- Supporting improvement initiatives by making suggestions or improvements that would benefit the mine and business
- Encouraging and modelling good housekeeping and equipment care behaviours
- Attend and participate effectively in crew training days every 6 weeks
Skills and Experience
- Experience and qualifications operating Underground Machinery (essential)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the same or similar role (essential)
- High level experience working in an Underground Coal Mining environment with a detailed knowledge and understanding of Development, Longwall and support services
- Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong safety mindset with excellent hazard identification skills and a willingness to participate in relevant safety tasks
Successful applicants will be required to attend an assessment centre on 14th October 2025.
