Health, Safety and Training Superintendent

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for the strategic development, coordination, implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Training system for the Ashton Mine Site. The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Ensuring Statutory Compliance is achieved and maintained;
  • Providing high level advice on injury management, rehabilitation and return to work programs;
  • Overseeing planning, development and operational activities to ensure Health, Safety and Training support services are provided to meet the current and future needs of the Site;
  • Leading the Health, Safety and Training function to support site to deliver business target outcomes;
  • Leading and supporting cultural change including a willingness to act in accordance with and embed existing cultural agreements

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • 5 years of experience in leading a Health Safety and Training Department within a coal mining environment;
  • Degree, Diploma or equivalent experience in an associated discipline;
  • Working knowledge of the Legislation, Australian Standards, Guidelines and Codes of Practice applicable to the Mining Industry;
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships with regulatory bodies and senior personnel in relation to safety compliance and associated matters;
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
