Yancoal Australia is Australia’s largest pure play coal producer. It boasts three tier one thermal coal mines in New South Wales together with interests in three other metallurgical and thermal coal mines located in New South Wales and Queensland.  Yancoal Australia also manages five other Australian coal mines on behalf of related parties. Our Ashton Coal Operations include an underground mine and coal handling and preparation plant, located in Camberwell.  The site operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Environment & Community Superintendent, the successful candidate will be required to:

  • Monitor compliance with environmental approvals, EPL’s, EMP’s and all other statutory obligations
  • Ensuring all required environmental monitoring is undertaken
  • Supervising contractors and consultants and provide support to operational personnel
  • Liaising with stakeholders and the local community
  • Reporting on site environmental performance

Skills and Experience

  • Degree qualified in Environmental Science or related discipline (essential)
  • 1-2 years’ experience in an Environment & Community role within the mining industry or relevant field
  • Highly developed skills pertaining to environmental legislation, environmental regulations and mining principles
  • Proven problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Skilled in hazard identification and responsive to environmental issues
