Roster: 7/7 rotating Day/Night Shift 12 hours

About the Business

Yarrabee Coal Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yancoal Australia. Based in Blackwater Queensland, which is a couple hours west of the Capricorn Coast.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a CHPP Operator.
With an international sales portfolio, Yarrabee is a proud producer of high quality PCI coal. Yarrabee also manages the Boonal Joint Venture Coal Stockpile and Train Loadout Facility, for both Yarrabee and Jellinbah Mine's Coal.
Operating continuously since 1982 Yarrabee has a strong long term future outlook for ongoing coal production.
The site employs a workforce of approximately 400 people, which proudly boasts it's integrated close knit culture of people who collectively pull together as a team.

Yarrabee are looking for an experienced and safety conscious CHPP Operator to join the award winning team on site in Blackwater.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the crew Supervisor the CHPP Operator is a very experienced and qualified operator. 
The successful candidate will have:

  • Consistently high levels of safe work practices
  • Productive operational skills of the CHPP and ancillary equipment
  • Manage stockpiles and work areas through operating machinery, performing inspections, and troubleshooting within the plant.
  • Excellent knowledge of coal analysis
  • Ability to eliminate problems and diagnose faults in order to operate the plant efficiently
  • Assist in with service and repairs within the CHPP
  • Provide sound leadership and coaching to less experienced members of the CHPP Team to achieve a high level of production in a safe and efficient manner.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this position you will possess the below attributes:
 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly skilled in hazard identification and responsive to safety issues
  • Able to facilitate a JSA/Risk Assessment
  • Trade qualified in associated discipline (highly desirable) 
  • Applicable Coal Competencies
  • Current Standard 11 Mine Induction (Surface)
  • Current Queensland Open Driver’s licence
  • Sound computer literacy with Microsoft Office programs
  • Thorough understanding of individual responsibilities in relation to the Coal Mining Safety& Health Act and associated regulations
  • Previous experience in a CHPP operation
