Mining Engineer

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team responsible for short, medium and long term mine planning, drill and blast engineering, pit geology and survey.  Our planning scope and close relationship with Mine Operations allows us to support our people to develop their skills and reach their potential. The role will require:
• Creation of daily, weekly and monthly production reports;
• Short-term scheduling, pit, dump and rehabilitation designs, drill and blast design and processes and engineering projects;
• Ensure compliance to legislative requirements and site standards;
• Creation and presentation of strategic designs and concepts, including the engagement of operations and mine planning teams;
• Assisting with other activities within the Mine Planning Department.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will possess or be able to demonstrate the following:
• Degree qualified in Mine Engineering or near completion;
• Computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft Office;
• Experience using mine software, Vulcan, Minex or Spry will be highly regarded;
• An eye for detail and an ability to develop practical and achievable mine designs and schedules;
• Strong communication and time management skills;
• Strong attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills;
• Open cut coal experience will be highly regarded;
• Must have a manual car license.
