Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the HR Manager at MTW, you will be a part of a highly energetic and motivated HR team. We are looking for a likeminded HR Officer who gives 110% and strives for excellence in all that they do. This opportunity is for a 12 month fixed-term contract.


The HR Officer is accountable for providing generalist support to the HR team and site stakeholders across a broad range of tasks and HR initiatives, to deliver optimal performance outcomes. The role is responsible for driving the Yancoal – Our Way through culture improvement initiatives, maintaining a high level of stakeholder engagement while driving best practice. As a member of the HR team, this role will contribute to achieving plan on a page targets and building an inclusive safety culture that enhances the Yancoal – Our Way

 The role will require you to:

  • Provide accurate and efficient turnaround of end to end employee changes, organisational management and data maintenance in SAP;
  • Support the team to coordinate process improvements and implementation of HR initiatives and projects;
  • Efficiently manage and respond to HR enquiries through the HR assist mailbox; assist the team with administration of annual HR calendar and employee lifecycle activities;
  • Complete reporting on a variety of key HR metrics (Absenteeism, Excess Annual Leave, Turnover, Monthly Lean Board Metrics) and provide analysis and insight into the data to drive HR initiatives;
  • Provide a high level of generalist HR support to HR Business partners including recruitment administration and onboarding: and;
  • Build strong rapport with cross functional departments and the broader Yancoal group.
Skills and Experience

To succeed in this role, you will display the following skills and attributes;

  • Relevant degree in Human Resource/ Business and/or experience in Human Resources;
  • Positive nature and strong work ethic;
  • Systems experience including SAP, Success Factors and Tableau;
  • A strong eye for detail and ability to prioritise work;
  • Strong administration and computer skills across the MS Office suite;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of commercial acumen to drive productivity and efficiency;
  • Previous exposure and experience working in Heavy Industry/ Mining Operations is desirable however not essential.
