Yancoal's 2021 Mining Engineering Cadetship Program

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

An outstanding opportunity to join Australia’s largest pure play coal producer awaits a passionate and goal oriented secondary school student or recent high school graduate wishing to advance a career as a Mining Engineer. You will have the opportunity to gain hands on mining experience whilst being supported with your studies to obtain your tertiary qualifications as a professional Mining Engineer.


Key Responsibilities:


• Complete the necessary secondary school qualifications to be accepted into the University of Newcastle Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering Transfer Program);
• Contribute as a valued team member within a production unit at an operating coal mine for a two year period whilst studying part time;
• Complete the necessary tertiary studies to gain accreditation as a professional Mining Engineer;
• Placement at one of our operating sites as a vocational student during university summer breaks whilst studying full time for the last three years of the Program;
• Placement into Yancoal’s Graduate Program upon gaining accreditation as a professional Mining Engineer.

Skills and Experience

• Ability to work within a challenging team based environment;
• Self-motivated individual with a strong sense of commitment and willingness to learn;
• Australian Driver’s License;
• No mining experience necessary.
