Human Resources Advisor - 12 Months Fixed Term

Yarrabee Coal Company a wholly owned subsidiary of Yancoal Australia, based in Blackwater Queensland, 2 hours drive west of Rockhampton.  We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Advisor on a 12 month fixed term contract to join our growing team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be part of the leadership team with one direct report. The Human Resources Advisor effectively partners with stakeholders to drive engagement, productivity and efficiencies that are delivered in a consistent and best practice manner in alignment with the Yancoal Values. This position provides proactive and effective Human Resources support to the site operational team, driving Human Resource initiatives across site.This is achieved through strong influencing and clear communication to key stakeholders to deliver site aligned outcomes.

  • Promote and demonstrate integrity, safety, people value outcomes
  • Partner with the business to lead and support departments, encompassing all facets of HR such as providing advice on employment matters, recruitment, performance management and annual review processes
  • Ensure cultural and policy alignment to all case management
  • Follow and advocate for process protocols
  • File documentation with the appropriate approvals and all related evidence
  • Patient, confidential and impartial


  • Formal Human Resources qualification or relevant tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ Human Resources generalist experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively and proactively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive people focused results
  • Ability to focus on the big picture and achieve goals whilst still prioritszing the day to day tasks in a high demanding environment
  • Ability to work both tactically and strategically
  • The focus on developing a pathway of excellence in all that you do
  • Advanced computer literacy – Microsoft Office and HRIS systems


  • SAP experience
  • Experience working within Mining and/or relevant Heavy industry
